Busy Season

Hi guys!! It has been a very busy season for me. I have so much to share with you.

I’ve been to brunches, got my nails done a couple of times, and spent my last dime on college for my son 👏🏽 🎉

I am so happy that I have the chance to share all of these experiences with you right now. Thanks for bearing with me and patiently waiting for my stories.

Let me start by sharing my Peruvian brunch experience with you. This was my first time eating at this place and I really enjoyed it. I am planning to go back.

Peruvian fruit Juice and soda

Now if you are extremely hungry, you will not get full from this place. The food is really good but, the portions are relatively small as shown below.

Choclo (Peruvian grilled andean corn)
Pastel de quinoa
Huevos Benedictos

The food was really good. We did end up having desert as well. Usually, I am to full for dessert but not this day.

Picarones (sweet potato donuts)

Everything was so delicious. I plan to go back and try something different.

Check out my nail stories…

I finally had the chance to go to a couple of different salons that I had been trying to get into for a while.

They both stay booked so far in advance that it is difficult to get into.

Let me show you how the nail gods hooked this sister up.

The first set of nails were done for graduation…could not go there with raggedy hands. My nail tech was the bomb!!!

The experience was even better for me because I had the chance to go with my mom. We ended up having a great time there and I’m going back to her next week!

…of course I pressed the button!!
Mom with the bling!!

My next set of nails are summertime magic. This is my first time having bright yellow nails and they are actually really fun!! I even got the 3d flower design. I had a little bit of a wait but it was really worth it. I’ve recieved so many great compliments on these nails that I really hate to see them have to go.

This has been a wonderful season. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Let me know what you think about any food or nails designs that you experience…just having fun here!!👏🏽👏🏽 until next time folks.

Springy Hands AND Feet

Sunny Toes

Now that Spring has officially arrived, it’s time for sandals. My feet no longer have to be enclosed in thick socks and boots.

I tried a new place in the same shopping center that my hair dresser is housed.

This place is relatively new to that area so I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself…how convenient. I’ll get my “hair did” and bop next door to check out this new place.

Before I went in, I researched on Yelp and found that there is a nail tech there that does extensive nail design.

I took my chances and went there with no appointment asking for the design technician. To my surprise, she was actually available. Once again, the nail gods were with me!!! 💅

She told me to pick my color and she took me in right away and began working on my feet. Blue is my favorite color, so I went with that. The end result is pictured above.

Relaxation is top priority

This shop is a little different and is all about relaxation so, no large party crowds or crying babies allowed as mentioned in the photo above. To block absolute silence, there’s nice classical music playing in the background with three televisions muted with subtitles so you can get lost in your own thoughts.

Watercolor nails with a little bling

After my wonderful pedicure, we moved on to my nails. I decided to do something a little springy. We went with a multicolored watercolor SNS design (with Bling of course)…pictured above.

We were both very pleased with how it turned out. My hands had a full photo /video shoot with the shop owner.

To my surprise, she actually brought out the photo lighting equipment and everything!!😊 We took still pictures as well as video inside and outside of the shop. To top it all off, we became Instagram friends as well.

This was a really nice shop. Very clean and relaxation is a plus for me. I hadn’t felt that relaxed in ages. I will return there at another time when I need a chillaxed day.

A little Blues with my Brunch

Bayou Breakfast

Pull up a chair. Let me share my story.

While waiting for the jewelry store to open, my husband heard my stomach growl and said “hey, you wanna do brunch?” I thought to myself… Aww, he knows me so well. 😍

I decided to search Google to see what was close by. We actually discovered a little hidden gem in plain sight. This place was directly across the street from the jewelry store. The Lord must have heard my stomach growling too!! HE knew I was hungry. 🙏🏽

The place we went to was a little quaint cafe’ that offered quite a few Creole style dishes. Here are a few items from the brunch menu: *Shrimp and Grits *Creole Eggs Benedict *Eggs Napoleon (served with a Crawfish Etouffe’) *and a Cajun Hash made with Andouille sausage

I decided to keep it light and go with the Bayou Breakfast (pictured above). The cheesy, garlicky, grits were truly delicious and the fruit was really fresh!! Our time spent here was accompanied by a wonderful selection of Blues and Zydeco music playing in the background. The Blues/Zydeco mix gave the little cafe’ an edge that I have not experienced during brunch before. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed the music selection. I was excited to learn that they provide a live band experience as well. We will need to go back there when there is a live music set during dinner hours.

Oh yeah, in case you were wondering about the jewelry store. We were simply searching for a nice class ring for my son (nothing for me this time), as his graduation is coming up quick. Just know that the trip to the Jewelry store ended up being a bust- with no ring. In hindsight, I’m glad that we were able to experience the Bluesy, Cajun, Brunch thus, proving my day productive! 🤷🏽‍♀️

New shop, New nails

My hair dresser told me about a new nail shop not too far from her beauty shop. So I told her I would check it out.

Of course she did not know the name of the shop, nor the name of the nail technician. She only knew the general vicinity of when this new shop might be located.

That meant I had to do some detective work. I felt like Scooby-Doo but, I really needed these nails done.

I ran across one nail shop in the area and decided to give them a try.

They have only been opened a month and a half and were great. They took me in as a walk in with all of my special /fancy fingernail requests. There were not a lot of people there that day, which was perfect for me so I can really talk and take a look around the shop.

They were also having a special that day with pricing. The nail angels must have been on my side .🙏🏽

The technicians gathered around to take a look at the finished work of the tech that did my nails. They we’re so pleased that they decided to take a picture to use on their website that they shared with me. (pictured below) We are now Instagram friends.

…And after all of this, I still don’t know if this was the place suggested by my hairdresser, but I liked it and will go back in the future!!😊

I wish them great success with their new place at Northcross mall.

Sonday Brunchday

Today was a great day to hangout with my son.

All of this started by going grocery shopping. You know how it is when you go to about five grocery stores looking for that one thing, and when you find it, you no longer feel like cooking? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Well that was truly the case for us. We looked up and saw this pseudo mecca across the street from the grocery store. it was almost like a mirage to us. We both looked at each other and silently agreed to try this new place out (well new to us at least).

My son will be graduating from college soon, and I just want to spend as much time with him as possible.

Over our great brunch today we discussed politics, entertainment news, next life steps and laughter.

During this brunch we had chilaquiles (chill-ah-kill-es) pictured above. And brisket eggs Benedict.

Everything was so very good from the company to the conversation and of course the food. 😋

This truly was a terrific Sonday brunch!!

Why talk about nails?

Well since you are beginning to know about me, I’ll tell you a secret of why I like fancy nails so much.
I used to have a bad habit of biting my nails. Hard to believe right???
I used to bite them so much that they would bleed.
My grandfather would try anything and everything to get me to stop because my hands would look so bad.
They would use hotsauce, (cruel..just cruel) but, eventually I would either wash my hands or lick it off.
They even tried some kind of nasty, nasty medicine..again, anything that I could wash off was no match for my nail biting skills.
He also tried bribery. Now you know to a little kid, that could mean anything from extra play time to a little bit of cash money…Welp, that worked for a little bit until one day I forgot about the bribe and could not resist biting my nails.
Another thing I like about nails,(fancy or not), is the way the nails sound when typing. A lot of people do not like the clicking noise. I’ve even heard some people compare it to screaching on a chalk board.
Feel free to tell me your thoughts about that. I may have heard them all. Lol
